Goat Format Championship 21 Deck Tech: Tegalik's Slump!
Goat Format Championship 21 featured Tegalik's "Ron control" deck, a unique Heavy Slump variant with Empty Jar and Chaos Turbo elements.

Slump decks have seen a resurgence since their placements in several high end events last year. Those versions were much more focused on Heavy Slump as a "fair" and slower strategy. Some versions, like Tegalik's, instead go for plays reminiscent of Jar combo lists. Let's take a look!
Deck List

Overview

Heavy Slump wants your opponent to have at least eight cards in their hand so that you can then make your opponent cry by reducing that number to two. Giant Trunade is one of the most common cards used to achieve this, but Cyber Jar is also pretty good at adding to both payer's card counts. Whereas other popular lists opt for a slower burn into the bomb, Tegalik seems to almost be masking as a Empty Jar + Chaos Turbo list. At one point, you looking at Thunder Dragons and Spys, thinking you know exactly what's going on, and then the next you're wondering why he's playing a book of Tayou on a Cyber Jar. Then, you're dead or close to it.
Player Insight
Referring to the list as "Ron control", Tegalik, spoke to this version's origin and potential, noting the many different avenues to victory that it has access to.
I've been playing mostly other formats for some time, it's been a while since i played any goat tournament but a while ago i was playing on db ladder a similar version of this deck (copied from aldersoe who was playing it on ladder as well). So basically I heard about this tournament last second by a friend of mine (giorgione) and decided to join. I wanted to play something different from the usual chaos turbo (best deck by far) and i think this deck could be a nice meta call against turbo plus it can be very unfair as well and steal games.I copied the list from one i found on the empty jar channel which made top4 (made slight changes but had just a few minutes before the tournament was starting). But yeah i knew about this deck already from db ladder a while ago and it's very fun to play and hard to play against. The deck can play for different win conditions. Heavy slump is one of these but also just decking out your opponent with jars and card destruction. You can also win by card advantage capitalizing on morphing jar and cards like trunade and duo. Bls and tribe are usually used to deal the lethal push or navigating through midgame.
Though the tournament didn't go quite they way they wanted, Tegalik was careful to look ahead. It seems as though they already have some changes in mind for next time!
All the matches i won the deck performed very good basically executing the jar tayou gameplan. First loss was in round 2 from i think a chaos control and was pretty brutal since i got dustshooted 4 times in 2 games and wasn't able to play at all. Last loss was a really close one g3 where i had the upper hand and card advantage but ultimately he had the perfect tribe to out my board (balter and spy) plus mst for my snatch which left me with 4 cards against a tribe and tomato and no way of preventing lethal.I think the list could be improved it didn't feel smooth enough in some games but maybe it was also for my lack of practice. Sometimes i struggled with lack of plays and just getting beaten down.
