How to Play
Set up DuelingBook and play your first game online.
Almost all Goat Format is played online on DuelingBook. It is free, runs in your browser and has its own room for Goat Format games. You need an account, a deck and an opponent.
Make an account
Sign up at duelingbook.com. Pick your username with care. It is the name you enter tournaments with, and your opponents use it to find you.
Find Goat Format cards
DuelingBook has cards from every era of Yu-Gi-Oh!, so you need to search for the ones that are legal in Goat Format. This video shows you how.
Not sure if a card is legal? Look it up in the card database or read History & Banlist.
Get a deck
Start with a list that already works. Every decklist on this site has an export menu. Download the .ydk file, then open DuelingBook's deck constructor and choose Import Deck. Keep the file. You submit it when you enter a tournament. Build Your First Deck helps you choose.
Find an opponent
- Join the Goat Format Discord and ask for a game in the new players channel.
- Open the Goat Format room on DuelingBook and challenge anyone who is waiting.
- Play a few games with a friend first if you want to learn without pressure.
Watch and learn
Watching good players is the fastest way to improve. DuelingBook lets you watch live duels in the Goat Format room. Browse replays from real tournaments and the Goat Format YouTube channel for commentary. Save your own replays and share them on Discord when you want advice.
Know the rules
Most rules work the way they do in modern Yu-Gi-Oh!. A few do not, and they come up every game. Read Rulings before your first duel.
