Privacy Policy
How we handle your data.
Last updated October 13, 2026.
Goat Format is a volunteer community project. We run Goat Format tournaments and goatformat.com. This policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use and share it, and the choices you have. Questions go to goatformatyt@gmail.com.
Information we collect
Information you give us. When you enter an event through our Discord bot, we receive your Discord account details, such as your user ID, username, display name and avatar. We also store the Duelingbook names, decklists, match results and replay links you submit.
Information collected automatically. When you visit the site, we collect usage and device information, such as the pages you view, your browser and device type, and your IP address. We collect some of this through cookies and similar technologies.
Team accounts. If you are on our team, we store the details you need to sign in to the admin area, such as your name and email address.
How we use information
- To run events, publish results and standings, and keep a record of past tournaments.
- To operate, maintain and improve the site.
- To keep the site and our events secure and to prevent abuse.
- To communicate with team members.
- To comply with the law.
If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, we rely on our legitimate interests in running and documenting community tournaments, securing the site and understanding how it is used, and on what we need to run the events you enter.
What is public
Tournament records are public. Player pages, standings, matches and decklists show your Discord display name, username and avatar, your Duelingbook names and what you submitted to the event. Search engines can index these pages.
How we share information
We do not sell your personal information, share it for targeted advertising or run ads. We share it only in these cases:
- With service providers that host the site, store data, deliver content, provide analytics and error monitoring, and send email for us. They may use it only to provide those services.
- With Discord, which handles everything you do in our server and with our bot under its own privacy policy.
- When the law requires it, or to protect the rights and safety of our players, our team or others.
- If the project moves to new organizers, who will keep following this policy.
Cookies and similar technologies
We use cookies and local storage to remember your light or dark theme and to keep team members signed in. We use PostHog analytics, which uses cookies and local storage to tell visits apart and can record how pages are used. Pages with videos embed YouTube through its privacy-enhanced mode.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The site still works without them.
How long we keep it
Tournament records are the history of the format, so we keep them for as long as the site runs. We keep other information only as long as we need it for the purposes above, and our providers delete logs and analytics on their own schedules.
International transfers
Our service providers may process information in the United States and other countries. Where the law requires it, we rely on appropriate safeguards for these transfers.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct or delete your personal information, to object to or restrict how we use it, and to receive a copy of it.
To make a request, email goatformatyt@gmail.com. We may need to confirm your identity first, and we respond as required by applicable law. Some requests may be limited where we have a reason to keep information, such as the integrity of past tournament results.
You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.
Security
We take reasonable steps to protect your information. No website or service is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee it.
Children
Our events run through Discord, so you must meet Discord's minimum age in your country to take part. The site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us at goatformatyt@gmail.com.
Changes
We may update this policy. The date at the top shows the latest version.
