Tournament Bot

Meet GoatBot, the referee behind every online event.

GoatBot is the tournament referee in the Goat Format Discord. It takes signups, checks decks, pairs every round, keeps the clock and records results. Every online Goat Format event runs through it.

GoatBot talks to you two ways. You run its commands in the server, and it answers you by DM. Type / in any channel to see what it can do, or run /help. New to events? Start with Your First Tournament.

Commands

  • /tournament_list shows every tournament you can join or that is underway.
  • /tournament_join signs you up. Enter your DuelingBook name and your deck as a .ydk file or a ydke:// link. Run it again before the event starts to update your entry.
  • /tournament_loss reports a match you lost. Pick the tournament and paste the DuelingBook replay link, then confirm.
  • /tournament_drop leaves a tournament. Before it starts your entry is removed. During play your finished results stay and an open match counts as a loss.
  • /profile shows a player's DuelingBook names, lifetime record and tournaments played. Leave the player empty to see your own and edit your saved names.
  • /help lists the commands you can use.

What GoatBot sends you

  • A receipt when you sign up or update your entry.
  • Your pairing each round, with your opponent's DuelingBook name and record.
  • Timer warnings near the end of a timed round, and when time is up.
  • A note when a match you played is recorded.

Let GoatBot reach you

All of these arrive by DM. If Discord blocks DMs from server members, GoatBot can't reach you. Turn them on for our server:

  • Right-click the Goat Format server icon.
  • Pick Privacy Settings.
  • Turn on Direct Messages and press Done.

Menus look different? Discord's privacy settings guide shows every version.
