Goat Format Championship 18 Deck Tech: Earth Control
Crashvolt's "Earth Control" deck for Goat Format Championship 18 blended Goat Control, Baggio Control, and Spirits with unique card choices like Susa Soldier and multiple Compulsory Evacuation Device.
Sometimes the best strategies borrow from multiple sources. It would appear that this was crashvolt's approach to deck building when he developed his mash up of Goat Control, Baggio Control, and Spirits, in a deck that he simply calls Earth Control.
Overview
This list is most similar to your typical Goat Control list. It sports three Metamorphosis, three Scapegoat, and two Tsukuyomi with which to abuse together, summoning Thousand Eyes Restrict and flipping it over and over for infinite removal. Even the golem Sentry, though a newer innovation to the strategy, is not unheard of.However, Susa Soldier is something rarely seen outside of Spirit Aggro lists, and its inclusion (alongside Tsukuyomi and Scapegoat) easily justifies the double Creature Swap in Volt's spell lineup. Additionally, a full three Compulsory Evacuation Device and Trap Dustshoot forces one to admit that this list is far from your typical Goat Control deck.
Player Insight
Crashvolt was happy to share their list, admitting that they love to play both control decks, and new and spicy strategies. So, something like the 45 shown above is not out of the ordinary for the duelist. Included in our brief interview was a bit of insight into the meta analysis that went into the design of the list, as well as general card choice explanations.
Current meta is turbo, Warrior, and then everything else. If I play meta, my main deck should be enough to put up a good fight. I didn’t want to lose to burn or RGT. That’s why my side deck looks like that.I chose Compulse because I thought it would be a nice compliment to Trap Dustshoot and golem. I have winged Kuriboh because it stops all battle damage for the turn which is a great one-card-stop for OTK decks. Plus, it’s a one-star light.
Cool stuff! the interactions between Golem/Compulse and Dustshoot are particularly clever once you're made aware of them! At the time of this article's writing, Volt has a 2-1 record in the tournament, which means they definitely have a shot at top eight, and potentially more! Of course, the event is about more than just winning! We hope everyone here has at least a little fun while competing, and it seems Crashvolt certainly has!
